Joy to the world!!!

Come, Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
From our sins and fears release us
Let us find our rest in Thee
Israel's strength and consolation
Hope of all the earth Thou art
Dear desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart

the wise men saw the light

i love a parade

one of the reasons we've stayed in our neighborhood
for years, aside from establishing great relationships,
is the yearly Christmas parade.
I mean really....
catching up with neighbors
bundled up against the cold
wiggly, excited children
floats
music
lights
toys
candy
santa

memories we'll always hold on to!

are they sweet, or what?!

someone's excited!
here it comes!!

you're a mean one, mr. grinch

waving to santa

the end

sorting through the loot!

now on to a week of
wrapping up school projects and exams,
baking and gift wrapping,
Christmas movie watching,
and hopefully final shopping trips!

let the countdown begin!

final post-op!

“Thus far the LORD has helped us.”
I Samuel 7:12

that's exactly how we feel...
God has carried us through 3 surgeries,
and we are so grateful!
Gracie's palate is healing well, and her
surgeon was pleased at our appointment yesterday.
Gracie even sat in his lap!
She was really proud of herself for doing so well -
"I not cwy!!"

speech continues to be a work-in-progress.
(the surgeon would like to see more progress...)
we have a great therapist that
visits twice a week, and we truly see improvement
every day, although our little princess speaks a lot
of "Gracie-ese" that only Mommy can interpret.
we continue to believe for healing for that palate,
and that her speech will daily improve.

we will head back to charlotte
(auto-pilot anyone?!)
in February to schedule her next surgery
which will be her lip and nostril revision.
I must admit, I thought this would be
the easiest of her procedures so far,
but after hearing Dr. Matthews describe it
yesterday, both Brian and I were surprised.
basically, the nostril side of the surgery
sounds like it will not have
a pleasant recovery process.
a Scripture immediately came to us
as we started our drive home...
one that we leaned on frequently
during our last hospital stay...

"...as your day, so shall your strength,
your rest and security, be."
Dueuteronomy 33:25

we will have
strength for the day
the moment
the minute
the second
perfectly timed and tailored
amen and uh-huh

the world's best nurse...ever...really

getting a little squirrelly after a 1.5 hr wait

let's pretend, shall we?

let's just pretend my recently
celebrated birthday was a big one...
one that begins with "f" and rhymes with "shorty",
shall we say.

and just suppose my wonderful husband
planned an incredibly special evening
with my dear family at my favorite restaurant.
can you picture it?
my brothers and sister & their spouses, nephews & nieces,
our own sweet kiddos, cake & presents...

and in our world of pretend,
my sweet husband also did not include
the traditional "black" theme that most would
choose for a birthday of this degree,
one of four decades,
that, of course,
we'll pretend was celebrated.

it's amazing how young i am to have four children,
one of whom is driving.
a modern miracle.

thank you Brian, Ali, Erin, Quinn & Gracie
for making sure my day was a special one.
I felt loved,
and not a day over 39.

I heart this place

a very Thankful heart today

"Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into His presence
with singing! Know that the LORD, He is God!
It is He Who has made us, and we are His;
We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving, and His courts
with praise! Give THANKS to Him; bless His Name!
For the LORD is good; His steadfast love endures forever,
and His faithfulness to all generations."
Psalm 100

the faces I thank God for with all my heart...

one year ago today
what a year she's had!
glory to His Name!
